5. Studies of temporal variations of climate-influencing gases

Continuous measurements of atmospheric gaseous composition by various devices performed in SPbSU give a possibility to study daily, seasonal, annual and long-time (trends) variations of ozone, water vapor, methane, nitrogen oxides, etc.

As some examples, average daily variations of near-surface methane concentration at Peterhof and Voeikovo in September 2013 and ozone seasonal variations in various atmospheric layers are given in Fig. 5.1 and in Fig. 5.2, respectively. Fig. 5.3 demonstrates the comparison of the mean daily values of HF total columns for three observation stations for 2009–2013.

Long-time measurements of the temporal variability of atmospheric gaseous composition at Peterhof allow also to estimating trends of contents of atmospheric gaseous components. Estimates of the methane total columns at Peterhof in 2009-2013 and 2009-2014 are represented in Fig. 5.4.
